Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band had the highest-grossing rock tour of 2012, according to Billboard's newly published list of the 25 most profitable concert tours of the year. Springsteen played 72 shows to nearly 2.2 million fans on his Wrecking Ball trek, earning $199 million. Springsteen's final earnings were actually higher for 2012, since he played nine more shows after Billboard's deadline of November 13th.
The 72 he did play were enough to put him at Number Two on the overall list behind Madonna, who earned $228 million from an equal number of gigs but played to less people -- just over 1.6 million.
