Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Jon Bon Jovi, Sting, and members of Aerosmith, headlined Friday night's (November 2nd) Red Cross telethon, Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together, which aired live on numerous stations and networks. Springsteen and The E Street Band closed the show with a powerful reading of "Land Of Hope And Dreams," the tune which debuted during the band's 1999-2000 reunion dates and was re-recorded for Springsteen's recent Wrecking Ballcollection.
Billy Joel and his band performed "Miami 2017 (I've Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway)" with newly re-written lyrics touching upon the storm which pummeled and displaced thousands on the East Coast, before being joined by Springsteen and Steven Tyler, who all backed Jimmy Fallon, who sang an at points an inaudible rendition of the Drifters' "Under The Boardwalk." Jon Bon Jovi, a musician, like Springsteen who made his bones on the now devastated Jersey Shore, gave fans a double shot of Bon Jovi favorites, singing "Who Says You Can't Go Home" and "Livin' On A Prayer." Sting performed an acoustic rendition of "Message In A Bottle," and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Brad Whitford performed "Dream On."
- Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together, was hosted by Matt Lauer and featured appearances and performances by included appearances by Cristina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg, Kevin Bacon, and Danny DeVito.
